Office & General (now re-branded as Tenon FM) has been confirmed as the new facilities services provider for University of Hertfordshire in a contract worth in excess of £55M.
Tenon FM, one of the UK’s fastest growing FM providers (part of the Tenon Group of companies), secured the deal to deliver a full facilities service following a seven-month Competitive Procurement process.
The University of Hertfordshire is located in Hatfield twenty minutes from central London and has two main campuses, College Lane and de Havilland, which are situated less than a kilometre apart and are home to approximately 25,000 students studying in ten schools.
The work won by Tenon FM encompasses the whole University estate and includes planned and reactive maintenance, statutory compliance work as well as services ranging from grounds maintenance and cleaning to hygiene, pest control and helpdesk services. The contract will run for 10 years.
The procurement process focused on delivering a number of University “must haves”, which included Control (the University wanted students and staff to feel like they were receiving services from University staff), seamless service with continuous improvement, a strong identity and University of Hertfordshire branded facilities service, risk/reward, a student and staff first approach, flexibility and certainty of price.
At the heart of the Tenon FM offering was a genuine partnership approach predicated on the values of a One-Team ethos. A number of outcomes are expected to be delivered over the life of the partnership, including over £1m of investment from Tenon FM, establishing a bespoke customer services training centre, cutting edge technology and equipment, a dedicated CAFM system, an MBA and training placement programme and investment in student led business ventures to name a few.
